Princeton University Energy Association was founded in early 2014 by a group of students who sought to create opportunities for students to connect with alumni in the energy field and host events to raise awareness and interest in energy.

In 2015, PUEA pursued ambitious growth in, founding a Spring Conference featuring speakers such as Tony Clark (Federal Energy Regulatory Commissioner) and Thomas Hewson (Principal of Energy Ventures Analysis, Inc.) and sponsoring a trip to the MIT Energy Conference.

2016 marked the beginning of the "Let's Talk Energy" introductory course and monthly speaker panels co-hosted with a variety of other organizations, which have continued as the staple of PUEA programming. The first Energy Case Competition was also established in December 2016.

2017-2018
The 2018 Energy Conference, New Jersey’s Energy Future, looked at the interplay of technology innovation, market forces, public policy (federal, state and local), and human behavior. Speakers discussed options for the federal and state governments, the power market operator, and power companies to advance affordable, reliable and clean power in New Jersey.
